Introduction
Child Protection Officer, Senior Manager, Designated Worker or Welfare Officer. The name isn't that important. The Role definitely is! Every organisation should have one person with overall responsibility for Safeguarding
Aim
To understand the role of the designated worker and to be able to carry out, or employ someone in, the role in order to effectively deal with child protection and other safeguarding situations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Justify the role of designated worker in your organisation including the policy underpinning this role
- Respond appropriately to a Disclosure, Allegation or Concern from a colleague
- Identify the impact a disclosure may have on on all parties involved
- Make an appropriate referral and take the required steps in order to maintain a safe environment

This programme has been developed to meet the needs of people who are either carrying out or planning to carry out the role of Designated Worker/Child Protection lead within an organisation. It is also suitable for people responsible for recruiting or selecting someone for the same role.
