Basic Introduction to Safeguarding
Introduction
Safeguarding children and young people is everyone's responsibility. This duty is true for paid and unpaid (volunteer) workers and applies to all organisations from whole government departments to the smallest mums and tots groups and everyone in between.
Aim
To develop participants knowledge of the importance of creating a safe environment for work with children and young people.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course participants will be able to:

Describe the elements that create a safe environment

Recognise the importance of developing effective policies

Identify safe working practices and challenge inappropriate behaviour
Suitability
This course is designed for anyone whose work may bring them into contact with children / young people, in a paid or unpaid capacity, but does not have direct responsibility for their welfare. Admin Workers, Placement Officers, Committee members, Contractors etc
